Meet Mateusz Cieślak, CCO People More. He has the ability to effectively lead projects and sales processes, based on strong communication skills and experience in managing teams and business relationships.
Adriana Tynor: The Polish IT market is growing rapidly, but employers’ expectations are also changing. What does the demand for IT specialists look like today? Where are most of the opportunities, and which skills are truly invaluable right now?
Mateusz Cieślak: While IT is a broad industry, developer roles are still at the forefront. In 2024, according to the IT Job Market 2025/2025. Will the Industry Stabilize? report, backend developers accounted for 20% of all job postings. If you add fullstack and frontend roles, coding positions made up 36.6% of the entire market. So programming still plays a key role in IT – but its dominance is shrinking. Just two years ago, coding made up almost half of all new IT positions.
A: Does that mean the IT market is becoming more diverse?
M: Definitely. A great example is the Data & BI category. Just two years ago, it was ranked sixth in terms of the number of job offers. Now, it’s among the top three. That shift clearly shows how quickly data-related roles are gaining ground.
A: What skills are most in demand among IT specialists right now?
M: According to data from ManpowerGroup, companies are actively looking for professionals in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing. Skills like SIEM, SOC, IAM, DevOps (with CI/CD), Kubernetes, and Terraform are practically must-haves in large-scale projects. When it comes to programming languages, Python, Java, and – more and more often – Rust are in high demand. In data analytics, SQL, NoSQL, and Apache Spark are particularly valued.
A: And which specializations are becoming less popular?
M: We’re seeing a decline in frontend roles. There’s also reduced demand for Agile/Scrum Masters and embedded systems specialists. But the biggest hit came in GameDev – job postings dropped by as much as 58%. This is mainly due to the ongoing crisis in the gaming industry, global layoffs, and project closures, including those in Poland.
Find out how we think and operate.
A: What’s driving such major shifts in the IT market?
M: These changes are the result of several overlapping trends. First, the pace of technological advancement is incredible. Artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure are no longer buzzwords – they’ve become core business needs. Companies that want to stay competitive must invest in these areas. Naturally, this drives demand for AI experts, DevOps engineers, cloud architects, and data analysts.
Second, organizational models are evolving. We’re moving from static, on-premise IT setups to distributed, cloud-based environments. Here, process automation and rapid adaptation to customer needs are daily realities. That’s why skills related to data management, system thinking, and architecture are becoming so valuable.
A: What role does artificial intelligence play in all this?
M: AI is no longer the exclusive domain of startups and tech giants. Today, it’s being implemented by banks, insurers, retailers, e-commerce platforms, and even public institutions. It’s a massive market that needs experts – from people designing AI models to those deploying, monitoring, and integrating them into existing systems.
As a result, we’re seeing a significant shift from traditional coding roles toward more analytical and infrastructure-focused positions. That doesn’t mean developers are becoming less important—but versatility and the ability to work in cross-functional teams are more valuable than ever.
Does your company need support in automation or AI? Let’s talk.
A: So what does this mean for people planning a career in IT?
M: The key is to watch the IT market closely and continuously build your skills. If you’re just starting out, consider focusing on technologies related to data, security, or AI – these fields will drive the IT job market for years to come. If you’re already in the industry, keep developing the skills that businesses need today – including soft skills like communication and teamwork.
A: Thank you for the conversation.
